Summertime...

and the living is easy...

Right?

We kicked off summer in a big way this past weekend, with record-breaking high temps in the mid to upper 90's! My red burnt shoulders are a testament to those high temps! Ouch!

I love summer. I love the warm weather. I love all the different activities I can do outside with the warm weather and the longer days. I love walking around the lakes and sitting out on a deck until late in the evening talking to friends. I like grilling out (Robert and I got a new grill this weekend and used it right away...yummy!), and I like going for leisurely walks around the neighborhood. I love everything about summer. I'm jumping full force into summer with a camping trip this weekend! Woo Hoo! Can't wait. A camping trip with a few of my girl friends - just the ladies roughing it for the weekend!

Memorial Day weekend was a lot of fun! We started it off by helping some good friends of ours move into their new house. They had that move choreographed like a Broadway show! I arrived when they were in full swing and felt like I was jumping into the swarm of 'worker ants' moving to and fro -- bringing an item into the 'nest', taking direction from the 'queen' (Courtney), dumping the load and going back out for more. It was great and moved so quickly and easily! I hope they are enjoying getting settled into their new place. In a few months they will be welcoming a baby into their new home too! Courtney is due in August!

After the moving, we hit Home Depot and got a great grill for a great deal! Best of all, it was already assembled AND it fit in Robert's Murano perfectly! We got it home in time to do a little cleaning, prep the grill and cook up a yummy summer feast to eat with some of our friends who came out for dinner that night.

Sunday we went up to Emily's house (that's Robert's sister) to stay overnight. Emily and her husband had a pool installed last summer, and that was a GREAT thing to have around this weekend! We spent ALL DAY Sunday in the pool - even into the evening! I think my last dip in the pool was around 11:00 pm! It was great (minus the many times Robert - and other kids - dunked me!). Monday we travelled down to Maple Plain to attend a ceremony at the local cemetary that honored deceased military (Robert's grandfather Emerson Dressel was in the US Marine Corp and served in WWII.) After the ceremony we went to Grandma Helen's place for a cookout with the family. I got my first four-wheeler experience as Emily drove me around the neighborhood. As we returned from our journey we saw Robert and his dad waiting anxiously at the end of the drive. They were quick to inform us that we had broken several rules of four-wheeling and I'm sure they were fearing for our lives. But we made it back safe and sound without a scratch on us. Four wheeling is fun! Next time we'll follow the rules!

After the cookout we were back at Emily's and about ready to jump in the pool when scary looking lightening darted across the sky and thunder started rumbling. We thought we'd be caught in a severe thunderstorm for sure (large hail had been forecasted). But the storm was moving fast and was out of the area before the first raindrop could fall. Before we knew it the sun was peeking out and we were diving in the pool!

By the time Robert and I got home yesterday we were completely exhausted. But in a good way!

Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend too!

Azithromyacin

Not really sure if that is how you spell it!

it is the name of the 5 day antibiotic blast that my doc prescribed to help out the bronchitis that hit me as a result of a head cold I got about 2 weeks ago.

I'm sure I'll like how it makes me feel after a couple days, but today, after the first heavy duty dose (Day 1 involves a double dose), I'm feeling not so great. The cough isn't so much bothering me as the upset stomach is. That's one of the side effects, and even though I'm not much of one who gets side effects from things, I'm sure that is what this upset stomach is. Oh well, it's not killing me, it will pass, and if nothing else-it has helped me avoid food cravings this afternoon!

I started a new blog. You'll see a link to it in my 'links'. It is called Drop Down 80 b/c it is the blog I am going to keep as I chronicle my journey to 'drop down 80'...pounds that is! Today was Day One. It'll be a sort of accountability/vent/reality check thing for me. We'll see how it goes. I may be more regular on that blog than I have been on this one! But I'll really try to be regular on both!

I'm off to Bible Study!
